Dear all,In 2017, I first started buying stocks πΉfrom the stock market. After going through recommendations, advertisements, and suggestions, I bought some shares of a penny stock πͺ that I believed to be a winner, or to be more precise, a multibagger. However, the stock price started to decline π. After some time, I bought some more shares of the same company and tried to average down. I waited again, but the share price declined further. Being an optimist, I again bought some shares of that penny stock. And again, the price declined further. Now, I stopped ✋ investing any further and also did not sold the shares. Hoping that some day it will give positive returns and I will be able to recover its value.
Ultimately, the investment became a loss-making one. This term came from the British and French governments' decision to continue funding the development of the Concorde supersonic passenger jet, even after it became clear that the project was not economically viable. Here are some tips for avoiding the sunk cost fallacy: π΅️ Set clear investment goals and objectives. ✍️ Regularly review your investments and make adjustments as needed. π«‘Be willing to admit when you have made a mistake. π±Don't be afraid to cut your losses. The sunk cost fallacy is a common cognitive π€―bias that can lead to poor decision-making. By understanding this fallacy and being aware of its triggers, you can avoid making costly mistakes in your investments. **One Video π₯ I Enjoyed**Still remembers the old day when I used to avail the Platform No. 9 for catching the train to New Delhi from this station. [Lines i Liked⏩] Almost all medical professionals have seen what we call "futile care" being performed on people. That's when doctors bring the cutting edge of technology to bear on a grievously ill person near the end of life. The patient will get cut open, perforated with tubes, hooked up to machines, and assaulted with drugs. All of this occurs in the Intensive Care Unit at a cost of tens of thousands of dollars a day. What it buys is misery we would not inflict on a terrorist. - [Source] **Two Write Ups I Enjoyed and Liked**Currently, most of our life is spent online on Web 2 and Web 3. Bonhoeffer's Theory of Stupidity/How to Draw/Rechargable Keychain
Dear all,
Bonhoeffer's Theory of Stupidity is his idea that a lack of understanding or knowledge about important things can cause serious problems. He believed this lack of understanding could take different forms:
1. **Ignorance:** This is when someone simply doesn't know something. For example, if someone says vaccines are harmful without any evidence, they show ignorance about how vaccines work.
2. **Willful Ignorance:** This is when someone deliberately chooses not to learn or ignores new ideas. For instance, if someone refuses to listen to experts who explain the importance of wearing masks during a pandemic, that's willful ignorance.
3. **Self-Deception:** This happens when people trick themselves into believing something false. An example is someone who eats unhealthy food all the time but says they're leading a healthy lifestyle.
4. **Mass Stupidity:** This occurs when a group of people collectively believes or acts foolishly. If a group spreads false information online and many people believe it without checking, that's mass stupidity.
Bonhoeffer warned that these forms of stupidity are dangerous. They can lead to bad decisions, hurtful actions, and even harm to society. He said stupidity makes it hard for people to see the truth and do what's right. Examples of stupidity in action include denying climate change despite scientific evidence, supporting leaders who abuse power, and using hate speech against others.
Bonhoeffer's theory reminds us to be informed, open-minded, and thoughtful to avoid falling into the trap of stupidity.

Not choosing is the worst thing you can do because now you’re compromising everything.
“If we use busy as an excuse for not doing something what we are really, really saying is that it’s not a priority. Simply put: You don’t find the time to do something; you make the time to do things."
A beautiful short poem by Wendell Barry
Our Real Work
It may be that when we no longer know what to do
we have come to our real work,
and that when we no longer know which way to go
we have come to our real journey.
The mind that is not baffled is not employed.
The impeded stream is the one that sings.

What is a Giffen Good/How to Lose Weight/100 Simple Pleasures
Dear all Imagine that you are a poor person who lives on a very tight budget. One of your main expenses is food. You buy a lot of bread because it is cheap and filling. Now, imagine that the price of bread goes up. This means that you have to spend more money on bread to get the same amount of food. However, you don't have any extra money to spend on bread. So, you have to cut back on other things in your budget, like buying meat or vegetables. This means that you end up eating more bread, even though it is more expensive. This is an example of a Giffen good. A Giffen good is a good that people consume more of as the price rises. This is counterintuitive because we usually expect people to consume less of a good when the price goes up. However, Giffen goods are special because they are inferior goods. An inferior good is a good that people demand less of as their income increases. The price of bread went up, but you ended up eating more of it. This is because bread is an inferior good and you have a limited budget.
It is important to note that Giffen goods are rare. Most goods follow the law of demand, which states that demand for a good decreases as the price increases. However, Giffen goods are a reminder that there are always exceptions to the rule. **One Video I Enjoyed**How to lose weight? Dr Pal explained his method for doing so. Kiss of Life/Creative Ads/Costliest Spoons
Taken in 1967 by Rocco Morabito, this photo called "The Kiss of Life" shows a utility worker named J.D. Thompson giving mouth-to-mouth to co-worker Randall G. Champion after he became unconscious following contact with a low voltage line. They had been performing routine maintenance when Champion brushed one of the low voltage lines at the top of the utility pole. His safety harness prevented a fall, and Thompson, who had been ascending below him, quickly reached him and performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. He was unable to perform CPR given the circumstances, but continued breathing into Champion's lungs until he felt a slight pulse, then unbuckled his harness and descended with him on his shoulder. Thompson and another worker administered CPR on the ground, and Champion was moderately revived by the time paramedics arrived, eventually making a full recovery. Champion lived an extra 35 years. He died in 2002 at the age of 64. Rocco Morabito won the 1968 Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography for "The Kiss of Life". "I passed these men working and went on to my assignment, "says Morabito. "I took eight photos at the strike. I thought I'd go back and see if I could rind another picture". But when Morabito went back to the linemen, "I heard screaming. I looked up and I saw this man hanging down. Oh my God. I didn't know what to do. I took a picture right quick. J.D. Thompson was running toward the pole. I went to my car and called an ambulance. I got back to the pole and J.D. was breathing into Champion. I backed off, way off until I hit a house and I couldn't go any farther. I took another picture. Then I heard Thompson shouting down: He's breathing!". **One Video I Enjoyed**
